Although the current website is functional it is very white and not very inspiring and it doesn’t promote the caravan site or the area very well to potential holidaymakers. The site is very dated I created it approximately 3.5 years ago and at this time I had no real knowledge of the user experience and designed it mainly to give the user what I thought they would want to view. Through my studies on this course I now know this is not the case and the user experience is key.
The website was developed using WordPress and is hosted by Heart Internet, it is responsive and accessible to mobile and tablet users as well as traditional desktop users.
I asked a number of viewers of the site what they thought of it and these are the points that came up:
- too white
- too much text – overwhelming amount of information is difficult to take in and read especially on viewing the site from a mobile device on the road. Users easily get bored and move on
- not enough pictures
- not inspiring does not make you want to go and stay there!

The current local area page below is totally uninspiring and on its own would not draw people to the area. Although it is informative in that it tells users where the places of interest are with links to their individual websites it is not a good user experience.
