Setting up the FTP connection between Dreamweaver and GoDaddy

In Dreamweaver select Site and Manage Sites…

This is the screen you see below when you select Site on the left (on this screen).  Give the site a name, the local site folder is the local area where my files are located.











Then select Servers from the left hand menu to set the server connection up as below:

Click on ‘+’ to add new server











Give the server a name, enter your domain as the FTP Address.  Make sure you enter public_html/ as the Root Directory as this is where the files sit on the GoDaddy server.











Then click on ‘Test’ to test the connect:











Success – I am now connected to my web server..


GoDaddy – initial problems

Once I had purchased my domain I initially had problems accessing the CPanel and found this was due to the GoDaddy’s security and ports (port 2083).  Once IT staff at the Hull School of Art and Design allowed access I could access my CPanel.
